Changing the World One Person at a Time
“The whole course of human history may depend on a change of heart in one solitary and even humble individual – for it is in the solitary mind and soul of the individual that the battle between good and evil is waged and ultimately won or lost.” – M. Scott Peck
Don’t be fooled into thinking that your private choices are really private. Whether you realize it or not your choices affect many other people.
I’ve been working with a wonderful mother who has been struggling with sexual addiction issues since she was a little girl. She used to think that her private actions didn’t affect others because they were secret and no one really knew about them. Now that she has been sober for a number of months she is struck with the realization that she was never really there emotionally for her family.
She has come to realize how many opportunities she has missed when she could have made a profound difference for good. If she learns from her experiences, she can turn this around and be a profound influence in many lives by learning to be present when with others. She has learned the truth that you cannot truly listen to anyone when you’re all wrapped up in yourself and that is what addictions do to one.
Lean into the pain if you need to, and be responsible for you actions today.

Problems are Opportunities in Disguise
“Problems do not go away. They must be worked through or else they remain, forever a barrier to the growth and development of the spirit…The difficulty we have in accepting responsibility for our behavior lies in the desire to avoid the pain of the consequences of that behavior.” -M. Scott Peck
One of the things that I have noticed in counseling so many people throughout the years is that most everybody feels that their life should be different. Or at least they wish that it could.
Instead of taking personal responsibility for themselves they would rather complain about their situation as if complaining about it might make a difference. In reality complaining without accompanying accountability and responsibility just make matters worse and increase the suffering involved.
If you are unsatisfied with something in your life, take action and do something about it – don’t just complain about it. Be grateful for your challenges for they can be gifts in disguise if you do something about them.
Please share InnerGold with those around you. Our Treatment System works and is helping people world-wide. We need your help to spread this resource to help addicts everywhere find understanding and healing.
Have a great day!
