The Last Day
Wherever you find yourself as you are reading this, please understand that now is the only time you ever really have.  Now is the time to make an honest inventory of what course you are presently on. Now is the time to become fully aware that this day is a gift.  This is the day to make a difference.
  1. What would you change if you knew today was the last day of your life?
  2. Who would you speak to and what would you say?
  3. Would you ask forgiveness of a loved one?
  4. Would you spend more time and give more attention to a loved one?
  5. Would you turn off the computer when you should?
Hopefully today will not be your last day but please understand that on one particular day in the future it will be the last day.
Your life is following a divine plan which is not fully under your control.  You came here when you were supposed to, and you will leave when it is time for you to leave.  Our bodies age whether we want them to or not.  Your body does this changing process on its own regardless of what you have to say about it.  We each have a specified period of time allotted and God is the only one who fully knows what that is.  Our quest is to make the most of today.  Learn to be more aware today and the precious gift of life you’ve been given.
Make an effort to focus on the positive things around instead of the negative pulls of the world. Chin up! Smile!  Make a positive difference in at least one person’s life today!

Recovery From Addiction – Character

Play

“Someday, in years to come, you will be wrestling with the great temptation, or trembling under the great sorrow of your life.  But the real struggle is here, now, in these quiet weeks.  Now it is being decided whether, in the day or your supreme sorrow or temptation, you shall miserably fail or gloriously conquer.  Character cannot be made except by a steady, long-continued process.”
- Phillips Brooks

“I shall tell you a great secret, my friend.  Do not wait for the last judgment, it takes place every day.”
-Albert Camus

Do what good you can today.  Make a positive difference in someone’s life even if all you do is smile and say hello to a stranger.  Show kindness to somebody, somehow today!

Taking Action w/ Addiction

Six frogs sat on a lily pad. One decided to jump off. How many were left?

If you answered “five,” congratulations! Your capacity for analytical reasoning is in good shape. Unfortunately, that is not the correct answer.

The correct answer is “six.”

All six frogs are still sitting on that lily pad. Why? Because one only decided to jump off – he didn’t actually do any jumping. – John Assaraf

“Seize the very first possible opportunity to act on every resolution you make, and on every emotional prompting you may experience in the direction of the habits you aspire to gain. It is not in the moment of their forming but in the moment of their producing motor effects, that resolves and aspirations communicate the new “set” to the brain.”
- William James

Many have the desire to change but they find it difficult to see the progress. Why? It is because they fail to take the necessary action. In order to create a new program for your brain to follow there must be action. You can have the greatest future picture statement in the world and it won’t do you a bit of good if you allow yourself to fall prey to the grand fallacy that sabotages many addicts’ dreams.

Take action today, utilize the future picture statement and take action towards your dreams and goals of maintaining sobriety.
